ACTIV

Activ is a specialist provider of online marketing services for small to medium organisations in any industry with specific expertise in web design, email marketing, SEO and online advertising and content.

The brainchild of Simon Rickett and Dillon Boivin, Activ Web Design is one of the fastest growing UK web design organisations, as well as one of the few truly British web design companies in the UK.

The two directors both had experience of selling websites to SMEs and, when the market became increasingly competitive some three years ago, they realised that a different strategy was needed to grab a share of the available business and ensure long-term stability.

After months of planning and hard work, Activ Web Design was launched. Three years’ more hard work later, the company has grown into the largest national web design company in the UK with their services also available in Spain, France and Australia.

Part of the secret of their success lies in a fixed, transparent pricing policy, while their innovative software has helped take the mystery and confusion out of web design, enabling ‘ordinary’ people to create their own sites.

A recent breakthrough for Activ is their latest franchise package, Activ SEO. This is a natural progression for the company and its franchisees, helping create thousands of websites for small to medium sized businesses up and down the country and generating more traffic to the sites.

Having launched in the depth of a recession, Activ has defied the odds by seeing a turnover increase by 189% in just 2 years. Their success in the UK led to global expansion in the first 12 months and their long term target is to be established in fifteen countries within the next five years through franchising agreements.

The key to Activ’s growth stems from the uncomplicated approach they have taken towards the web design and SEO industry.

Bridging the gap between the suppliers and purchasers in the IT industry is something that has long been needed. Many purchasers regularly turn away from purchasing a website at the fear of being confused by the supplier.

With Activ offering fixed prices linked with their commitment to explaining everything in a language the customer understands has seen them prosper over recent years as they have grown into one of the largest web design and SEO companies in the UK.

Offering a high quality service at a price all SME can afford has not only meant they have succeeded here in the UK it has seen them move into Spain, Australia and Ireland.

Simon Rickett Director at Activ says, “We are delighted to win this award and it is a credit to all the hard work everyone puts in here at Activ. A very big thank you to all our local advisors as they have been instrumental in us achieving this recognition”

When asked, what the future holds for Activ, Simon goes onto say, “The need for websites is at an all time high, so we can’t take our eye of this however what has been fantastic over the last few months is that our SEO service is staring to gain momentum as companies who already have websites are now taking advantage of our SEO services. It won’t be long before our SEO service reaches the same heights as our web design service”

£125,000 on developments at Activ

July 26th, 2010

Activ is delighted to announce the formation of a new partnership with KTP and De Montfort University (DMU).  This is a massive leap forwards for Activ and we are looking forward to commencing the project in the very near future.

Knowledge Transfer Partnership is a Government lead initiative designed to strengthen the link between academic institutions and corporate business. KTP aims to:

Strengthen the competitiveness, wealth creation and economic performance of the UK by the enhancement of knowledge and skills and the stimulation of innovation through collaborative projects between business (including social enterprises) and the knowledge base;

KTP works by partnering a knowledge base partner (a University) with a business partner (Activ) and then overseeing the operation themselves (through a KTP Associate). KTP carefully evaluates both the business and the project to ensure it is a successful and rewarding experience for all participants. The aim is to utilise the skills of the knowledge base partner and the KTP Associate in a practical business scenario to develop not only the individuals involved, but also to benefit the business partner in a real world project.

Activ will benefit from the full time deployment of a recent graduate from DMU in the Activ offices for two years. The graduate will lead a team of staff towards the completion of a real life corporate project (Activ UK Click and Earn software Version 3). The project will be overseen by the KTP Associate and Activ will be able to draw upon the fantastic resources of DMU and other academic establishments (using the latest technology and laboratory equipment Activ would otherwise not be able to gain access to).

The cost of the KTP will be in excess of £125,000 over the two year period and will rely on funding both from Activ, but largely from the UK Government – this high level of funding has been made available to Activ follow rigorous evaluation of the company, its staff and the project the KTP will surround.

Activ is delighted to be able to call upon the assistance of KTP and look forward to developing what should be the best and most powerful network of UK townsites in the UK.

Simon Rickett explains the online industry for the SME.

Back in 2005, the Internet advertising industry was starting to take hold as SME’s started to shift their marketing spend online. However 5 years on where are we now?

Simon Rickett, founder of Activ, an online marketing company, gives his thoughts…

“5 years ago the internet was fairly new to SME’s. Most SME’s didn’t really understand what the Internet could offer. That said as it was the “buzz’ word back then businesses experimented with online advertising and getting a  website designed”

Simon Rickett explains how “SME’s rushed to find a web designer, or arranged for the popular business directories to design them a website, however this has actually been counterproductive for most”
